What you can do all depends on your space, and whether or not you keep your altar set permanently or set it up and take it down between each use. I know I certainly wouldn't have gone to the lengths I did if I would be re-doing it every day til the end of Samhain!
What to consider when pondering on the idea of what should go on your altar? Well, remember this is a time of death, when the veil between the worlds is thin, a time to honor our ancestors. It's also been officially fall for a bit now, and depending on where you live the weather has cooled, the leaves have changed, and fallen to the ground in abundance. Regarding the former, you might want to go the darker route.
The color black, silver or white, skulls, skeletons, gravestones, pictures of deceased family, something representative of your family tree, and all thing eerie (I strung fake cobwebs across mine).
On the note of the latter, colors of autumn like rich red, orange, and yellow. You can recognize the harvest with pumpkins (or jack-o-lanterns!), gords, apples etc. Get a cornucopia, or a basket to hold your harvest bounty.
And don't forget to share a pic or two of your sabbat altar! If you won't be setting up til the day of, share what you plan to do. It's great to hear everyone's ideas!
